barn find worth
I found a 1969 911E that has been stored away for a few years aparently it doesn't have the original engine in it, This guy put a 2.7 webber carburated engine , it has some recaros but everything else is original including the paint (acording to this guy)this might be a nice car but what do you think is worth?
I can see that the porsche crest is new. What kind of headlight are those? it looks like it is missing the side mouldings. What else can you guys see from this pictures Here are a couple of pictures ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by goldsc78258; 06-30-2006 at 03:28 PM.. |

Those look like the 67 headlights. I just put a set on my car. Not period correct for my car, but less common than all the H4s out there.

Seems like alot of the original parts have been replaced with later model parts and/or upgraded like the console, seats wheel, engine, etc. So the question would be what else? It's an E so it has 14" wheels, those funky front shocks, etc. Body looks solid and relatively rust free which is a big plus. Dash also looks good. But the car has been messed with internally, so if a daily driver is what you want and don't care about a concor original, it looks ok. Also, the 2.7 motor has a spotty past, overheating and engine failures before 50K. Then there's the storage time. You should check the fuel tank for rust and see if the hydralics still work along with the fuel pump. No matter how you cut it, you will have to put some money into the car, say $2K to get it running and $5K+ to return it back to somewhat original save the motor. Not really an valuable car because it's a Targa and an E. But 911 prices have been getting up there. I'd venture a fair market price of $5-6K. But then again I've seen junk sell for that on e-bay. So what does your heart tell you? Do you really want the car? Or would you rather find a 911S?

The speedo needle is white because the red has faded over time and exposure to sun so the speedo may be from another car to replace none working broken original.
