Value of 2.7RS motor
I have put a deposit on a non-sunroof SC that happens to have a real (and rebuilt 5000 miles ago) '73 2.7 RS motor in it. Just wondering what these motors are worth. I am not going to sell it off, just curious.

A genuine 2.7 RS MFI motor is rare indeed. How does one even confirm that vs a well made "clone" motor? Case ##? Also, if it's "rebuilt" than at the very least one can't claim it is "original". And an original motor in very good condition is more valuable to me than a "rebuilt" motor.
Anyway, since most fully rebuilt 911 motors (ie 2.0-3.0l) seem to cost about $10-12K, I would think that a genuine RS motor carries a small premium to that number. Any idea how/why your SC ended up with such a motor? |

motor value
I checked the engine number and it is not a '73, but a '75. I do not know how the motor ended up in the car. The PO, who has had the car for the last 10 years doesn't either.

RS motor
The motor number is 66500XX. Came from a european Carrera w/ 8.5:1 compression ratio (not the 8.0:1 US), 210 hp, 255 lb., correct mechanical fuel injection. There were 701 of these motors made that year. To the best of my knowledge this engine is the same as the '73.
