Guys, cheer me up
Drove my 911 30 miles from my home into downtown Washington, DC yesterday. Parked it a few blocks from the US Capitol. Returned a few hours later and it was gone, stolen by some slime. Hoping police will get it back, but I have my doubts. How should I expect my insurance company to come up with a fair price if the police don't get it back for me? It is a '77, fair condition with a 3.0L engine. What a damn hassle!

Doug, bummer!!! If you have lots of recent pictures and some folks in PCA that know the car, I would suggest putting together a package for your insurance company to validate your opinion of the car's value.

pic, license #, VIN, etc. Post it here...and on the tech page. Yes, a long shot, but somebody in your area might spot it.

Have no pic... but a chocolate brown narrow body with sunroof and Fuchs can be imagined by anyone on this board. Lic num is MD historic plates, L54635. VIN is 9117201489. Is has been 3 days today and the odds get longer that I will get it back.

So sorry to read/hear about this... Hope all turns out well... It is one of life's great bummers that there are so many that have little or no regard for others property...

Good news, I got it back intact with no damage. I was driving in Washington, DC half a mile away and spotted it parked on the street. Called the cops who came, did some paperwork, and off I drove it. Police think it was a young guy who wanted a joyride.... hard to steal later 911s but easier for the older ones. I think I should stop putting off installing a kill switch.
The only people as happy as I was... people at my insurance company. Thanks for the support.
