RS Look on Ebay (Cross Post)

Not mine, but I had bid on it the last time it was on Ebay.
Ended up being the Second highest bidder.. The winner bid the car up from 13k or so to 18100, then mysteriously he could not go through with the sale.. So I was offered the car at the Highest bid, I had given which was 100 less.. I was wondering if any of you were watching it as well?

JIC - Item number: 270031627494
Thanks
Len

Hi Len
This car has been on Ebay many times recently. I believe they bought it on Ebay about 5 months ago and thought they were going to make a killing? I can not believe the prices that are being asked for a car that in the future will be considred nothing more then a highly modified, non original car.

Rich, I am with you, I wanted as a basis for an RSR clone, also to drive until I was ready to get to the body stuff.
But there was no way that I would give the 25K..
I haven't seen the rue price go over 16K... which they should have probably taken.. I didn't see the purchase price that they bought it for. I guess you are correct, trying to hit a home run on the flip...

Forget those second chance offers they look like they are real from Ebay but they are all fake. Thats no reflection on this car. There are scammers who troll the ebay motors offering real looking "second chance" offers so perfect you'd sware they were real ebay screens. This cars been offered around for months and months.

2 of the second chance offers were real..
As I got follow up through Ebay and the seller.
The other, I never checked again.. So they were real, I don't think the finall bidding was real...
I found a Nice T locally and saw a very Nice S and E today...
I will post some pics from the car show...

The shop selling that car does not build older 911s. They pay strong prices to individuals with "like new" cars and then get really incredible prices for them. Very respectable business with a true Porsche-loving enthusiast running it in a very nice location in Malibu.

Their main business is replica Speedsters, 550 Spyders and the 550 Coupe.

What a difference a week makes...
Across the board, it seems that more people are on the long hoods that are available on Ebay this week, last week most of them were not hitting some of the same reserves that they are hitting with no problem this week..

This particular car was on for at least 3 weeks in a row and never even got close to the price that it is reaching now, as well as a few others.. Definitely a weird market to get a handle on..

Oh well, I will keep looking..

Ebay RS Clone

Been looking for a reasonable priced clone that runs ok. I looked at this one and drove it. Reasonable condition; looks to have a rear main seal and shifter seal drip; pan and floor boards a 9+ with a battery box repair; no head liner but other wise interior is ok and dash is perfect; reasonable paint (7+); muffler is mickey moused but a simple fix. Motor claims to be top end rebuild with pistons and valve job - supposed to be $3500 spent.

You guys know a bunch more about these cars than I do so I'm asking what is this car worth? My guess is 18-20K tops.

Thanks for any input.

You'd need to put a heck a lot more than $3,500 into that car to boost the HP from the stock 140 to the stated 160. It's probably equal to the performance of my '69 911E, which is fun, but doesn't exactly throw me into the back of the seat when I put my right foot down.

But those lime wheels are freaking HORRIBLE...

RS Clone

Thanks for your reply. What do you think this car is worth? Willing to put some $ in cleaning up the small stuff but don't want to send big $ on a new motor or transmission. In person the car looks pretty good but perfectly restored by any means.

The car is clean - had it up on the hoist and had a fairly good look. Drives tight and seems reasonably strong for a 2.4. Trany is leaking around the shifter (drip, drip) and suspect that it may need a rear main seal soon and maybe a clutch. They tell me have receipts for the all of the engine work - pistons; valves; head work; paint; etc. but haven't seen it.

Bottom line is I want a reliable cruiser (not going to track the car) for the wife and I to have fun in on weekends.

thanks,

Zorba
