Value: '77 Carrera 3
Hello,
I'm a former 911 Turbo owner (modified '91) and I'm considering the purchase of a '77 Carrera 3 (euro model) that's in "good" condition. I'm looking for some information surrounding known issues, how rare is this car, estimated value range, and overall recommendations from you knowledgeable 911 folk. Thanks in advance for your help. - Larry Leff |
They are rare only because they were not USA spec cars. They were not available here from a dealer. But, thanks to the gray market, quite a few were brought over. On paper they are a lighter, more powerful "SC". Inspect the car, if it checks out buy it. Don't think of it as an investment. Think of it as a nearly 30 year old Porsche. Just like any 30 year old car look for rust, accident damage, "completeness", overall condition etc.
Because the aren't really SC's nor are they equal to a '77 S, the price can vary. Perhaps due to exclusivity they are a bit more $$ than an SC. Not sure they are worth the premium. |
