Same basic idea but different car. In 1992 45 C2 were imported to be built into Carrera cup race cars for a US race series that never came to pass cars were imported as streets car converted to race car by Andial and reconverted back to street cars by PCNA and sold. Same basic platform as 964 RS but sold in US. Obviously with only 45 built they are not widely available.
Thanks,
Phil

Best way is to start following the CR guys, if you want a "race" car. Their is a local guy who has a street registered USA Cup car. He toys with selling it every few months. Not sure where he "stands" on the issue currently. He posts over on Rennlist moreso than Pelican. Given their limited production, their following is very intense, and I have the feeling several owners will know about 8-10 "other" ones that are out there, some for sale, some not. Can't say I know of anyone place to track their availability.

Thanks I'll poke around on Rennlist. There are is a registry site but it looks incomplete and out of date.

Phil,

A real nice, low mile example sold back in August at the Christies Monterey auction for just under $100K. So I think this would be the high water mark from what I have seen.

Brian,
Thanks I just bought one, should have it sometime after holidays. First "modern" Porsche I will have ever owned. Thse cars seem like great buys to me considering the limited numbers they were built in.
Happy Holidays,
Phil

Phil,

Keep it quiet about the '92 US cup cars. We think alike on these cars but I don't want the word to get out.

Really, congratulations on your purchase. Actually I think the word is out and I was disappointed to see the car at Christies go for almost $100K because I too would like to pick up one of these some day. The best way I know of to basically have a 964 RS that is street legal here in the US. Be sure to post photos of your car when it arrives.

Phil,

Now that you have a Cup car what are your thoughts on the market range for the cars? With so few cars to begin with it is a bit hard to pin down isn't it? Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Brian,
I have no idea what the market really is. I have gotten ranges from a couple of dealers but so few cars change hands so I just don't know, I doubt anyone does. I bought the first one I ever saw for sale. I just figured so few were built and it was a pretty damn cool car that is was a car worth owning. The Euro RS's I have seen are on the market for $100-160K which about double what the US spec cars sell for. This is odd since these are the more or less the same car only the US car built in a smaller quantity. I don't lose too much sleep trying to understand how the collector car market works, I just buy car which I can afford and love.
Happy Holidays,
Phil

Sloan car has one advertised for $175k with only 600 miles and it is one of 20 not modified by Andial.

For less money I would take the C4 RS posted by 1973911s for $169,500 above.

Hope to join the Cup Car or RS club soon,
Dave

Wow that's huge money, it's hard to imagine that a car that hadn't been originally modded would be worth anymore than one that had. They were all sold in street trim through the dealer network as far as I know.

I agree. I thought all were sold in street trim as well. I think they were enforced to do so. Sloan has always sold "GARAGE QUEENS".
I thought you could import european RS's.
Euro RS's for 100-160 seems steep. Does that include all the documentation (DOT) for driving here in the US or is that the European price. In England they are selling for 25k-45k (pounds)

Dave,
Well I am not a market guru that is just what I have seen Steve Patti advertise them for, that would be a turn key importation. I am sure you can do better price wise if you do some legwork.

Phil,
Just saw the pics of your car. Very Nice!!
I have only seen two of the cars advertised, and two in person, including a 964 C4 RS(was this an actual production car or a series of prototypes?)
Absolutely the best.
Dave
