Trailer Wanted: Anyone have one? Where to look?
 

I need to buy a used trailer. Prefer small and light for my 73 RS wannabe ...probably 2200 lbs?? So I guess a 14 footer at south of 1,200 lbs will do it? I have been looking on Craigslist locally, none on Rennlist, which forum should I check here in pelican? Is is a part? / car? Any help on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

I can buy an open 14 foot steel Carson trailer new locally for about $2200. I am trying to find something similiar or lighter for less money used?

Used steel trailers seem to trade in the $1200-2000 range. New steel is about $2k-3K (as you've noticed). Aluminum (lighter) holds its value. Trailex's start around $5k and used ones are hardly any cheaper. While a trailex can be as light as 800-900lbs, expect the steelies to be closer to 1,500-2000 lbs. You will notice that with whatever you are towing with.

Thanks. The aluminum trailers haven't seemed to catch on in California. Probably because there are minimal issues with rust so I can't seem to find any out here. I think the Carson steel trailer is supposed to be about 1250 lbs. I am diligently searching craigslist, looking at Ebay and Pelican. Any other ideas on where to search for used trailers?

Check some of the equipment websites and papers. I haul 911's
on my bobcat trailer (12 ft.) frequently. Load 'em rear end forward, and they tow nicely.
Skid loader trailers w/electric brakes are $900-1500 around here.

Regionally I would try to scope out SCCA/BMW/PCA club magazines/online sites. Might try a local "rag" paper like a "want ad press" or some of those local grocery store "freebies".

Thanks guys I will keep scanning. I am somewhat worried about weight because I plan to tow with a honda ridgeline (5000 lb) towing capicity.
