Price check: 86 Carrera?
Just wondering what the ballpark value of the following car might be:
'86 Carrera coupe, red on beige, sunroof, tail, Fuchs. 165k, same owner last 10 yrs. engine/tranny never touched no records, but serviced at a locally reputable dealer (I plan to call them tomorrow). Given age/mileage and lack of records, I plan to have a thorough PPI done, but only if the car is reasonbly worth chasing. Thanks! |

With 165k on the car and the fact that the transmission hasn't been rebuilt, it's probably seen mostly street miles and maybe not much abuse. That's good.
However, 915's typically last about 100k and then need some sort of freshening up, so I bet this car is probably getting close to needing a tranny rebuild. It's really hard to guess a value since we don't know too much about it's current condition and what repairs are needed. But it could be in the $12,000 ballpark, give or take thousand or two. If it's sharp as a tack with nothing major needed and it drives and looks great for it's age and mileage, I could see it bringing $14k. If she's a worn out dog with a tranny rebuild and top end looming, it's not worth much more than $10k in my book. Good Luck! Jay 90 964, 84 3.2 |

Hard to imagine it 'not being touched' considering how short a lifespan those valve guides typically have. But there have always been 'magic' 911 engines that just run forever.
