1973 RS Clone......Value?
I need a little help. I don't know anything about these cars. I think this one is great looking but I need some help with the value. Anyone that would care to offer an opinion on this is much appreciated.
I have very little details. I understand it is an actual 1973 year model and it has some original RS parts on it. I don't know how that affects the value. What do you think?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175572867.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175572895.jpg |
We're going to need as much info as you can provide to give you even a ballpark estimate. Motor type, when it was built, original chassis, vin numbers, etc. This type of thing can be anywhere from 15 to 50+k depending on the details, so without them it's impossible to say...
|
I'll give you 15k for it :D
|
Hey, I understand. I will try to get some more information and get back with you.
|
Huge difference in price depending on what it started as and what it has.
If it started life as a 73.5 CIS T, and still has that engine, it's value is going to be relatively low. Maybe up to low/mid 20s? If it is a 911S with a real RS engine (or even the original real S engine), real RS bumpers and tail, etc. it could be $75K, maybe even more. |
the - Thanks! That is the type of thing I would like to know more of. I really appreciate your comments. As soon as I know more I will be posting it.
Thanks again! |
Man I wish I had that car...forget Aubie! I'll take that one! :D
|
One more thing. Since the car is nice looking and is from California I am hoping that someone might have seen it or know of it. When I find out who did the work on it I will ask you about that person or company as well.
Again, thanks for the responses. |
A little more information: Bare metal restoration over 18 months, lots of receipts, lots of RS parts including gas tank. Has a 2.7 motor with Webers. More to come.
Any comments? |
The person that sold that car a few months ago is on this board. VERY expensive then. If more so now, Ykes.
He can chime in and tell more about it then anyone. Search the for sale section a while back. Rich |
Looks like a fanatastic car and big bucks too, but that just from these pics.

The guy who had this car and the green one for sale is the same guy that bought my Aubie

You guys are awesome!!! Especially you, SKM. What a link! Thanks to everyone! porsche911girl - show a picture of your Aubie. You have me real curious what that car looks like.
One more question if anyone is up for more. What do these cars sell for? and ......How good of a buy are they at those prices? You know....would you rather have this or that for the same money? All opinions are appreciated! |

I have no idea what the Orange car above sold for but if it was in the 30-40K range the better choice IMHO would be a really nice #'s matching 2.4 E coupe (with or without performance mods). Will hold its value much better over a replica. |
Brian - Thanks! This car is more around $55K....and based on what it cost to get it to that stage.....that's a pretty fair price. The problem is that after it's driven for a while...... is it going to be only worth your range of $30K-$40K......maybe less? That's a pretty huge hit to take on a car that old and in that good of condition. I don't know it will go down that much.... but if it did. OUCH!
Thanks again for your response. |
If you have a budget of around 55K, look for a nice condition 'S' coupe instead. You would have a stable investment and the car could be lightly modified (with reversible items) and still be way ahead of a top of the market replica. In that price range buy the real thing.:)

Brian - Good advice. Thanks so much!

1970S For Sale
Hey Eddie,
Heed Brian's advice - he knows what he is talking about. If you are inclined to go the direction of the S coupe, there is one in the Porsche Marketplace Discussion section that was just posted. It looks like a really nice car. You might think about getting in touch with him to discuss. He is looking to sell the car I think. Good luck. |
