Buying used parts - how to value when unused
When buying parts from an individual, that have never actually been used (i.e. seller bought part but changed mind and couldn't return), is there a general guideline to use for pricing? Like, maybe 80% of the original price (or best price found on internet)?
Just wondering what would be fair for both parties. Thanks, Skip |
The only thing you're lacking when buying new parts from pp is warranty. Therefore it really depends on what the item(s) for sale are. There are no rules. Just what is fair to both parties. I would generally agree with 80% being ballpark.

I don't think there is a general rule. I would say it depends on what it is. SSI's would probably sell for 85-90%, unused rubber gaskets might sell for 60% it just depends on what the seller and buyer agree on. At least that is how I have seen it go most times.
