Value of 85 targa
Hi gang! First post here, I've been doing lots of searches and browsing over the past few days. I look forward to being a part of this wonderful community. I have always loved 911s, for obvious reasons. My dad has also been a long time fan, and has owned several (most recent is a 993 targa, others he has owned are 94 speedster, 82 sc, and quite a few other classics).
He called me up the other day saying that he was driving an 85 triple black targa that a friend of his was selling. It has 134k on it and the current owner has had it for 5 years. Apparently it drives nice and tight, 1st gear has a bad synchro and the A/C is not always cold. Has some oil leaks, and the owner does not have any service records. He bought the car for his wife, who hates it, and does not know much about it. He is asking 11,900 and will take 10k. Here are some pics, let me know what you guys think. I wasn't actively looking to buy right now, but if this is a deal, who am I to say no?? PPI could be done this Wednesday. Anyone know of a decent shop in South Jersey? Thanks! syncro replacement plus addressing the oil leaks will add a few grand to that 10k. A nice triple black 86 with 104k near me just sold for 13k, so that sounds about right. Not a steal, but about the going rate.
