1974 Euro Carrera Value

Good Morning Everyone,

I own a 74 Euro Carrera Coupe, it is an all original numbers matching car none sunroof coupe. I need to adjust some numbers on my insurance on it and I am trying to determine what the going rate is for these cars. It is in excellent condition, low miles , and a zero rust car. I have attached a few pics below. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Great looking Car!
I would insure conservatively @ 45,000. to 55,000; if the car is original. These cars are climbing rapidly in value especially in Europe. Any additional coverage cost will be minimal over exact current market. I would tend to error high.

As I said their value is on the rise in Europe! They are unbelievable cars. IMO worth the big bucks when you consider the current prices of an original RS. I believe the Hemmings listed car was purchased last spring in CA for $45,000. Search the early s registry. These cars are often discussed there.

Thanks for input! I've owned it for four years and it is wonderful car in excellent condition. No rust, and matching numbers.

If it were mine, I'd have it insured for mid 70k or so.

A US Carrera just sold on ebay for 40k. And the values on both the US cars and Euro cars are climbing fast.

I know two cars that have sold in the UK in the last few weeks for around the £50k mark, which is $100k-ish. Period colours help a lot in my opinion. There are some optimistic asking prices out there, and quite a few cars that have been up for sale for a while with no movement, so remember asking prices sometimes paint a pretty picture but they don't make a market.

Car looks exceedingly great Jeff

Thanks John for the compliment. I really enjoy the car. I just want to make sure I have enough insurance on it.

I just fisnished helping a friend rebuilt my new motor, we kept the original 2.7 displacement, but engine block was shuffle pinned, and time certed....

we placed PMO carbs with match ported manifolds, elgin mod S cams, 9:5 pistons, match ported/polished heads, cranks was cross drilled etc..... list goes on.... = fun to drive....

I will also confirm a market range of high $60K to upper $70K for matching, nice condition '460'-'560' Carreras. My friend Juergen is also selling this '75 Carrera 2,7 in Hemmings.

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/porsche/carrera/484600.html

He has sold several really nice 2,7 Carreras lately so I think his asking prices are very close to current selling prices. As John noted, the market in the UK is the highest that I know of.

So, Jeff you certainly have a desirable and valuable car. You are very smart to up your insurance accordingly.

PS A suggestion: Find a correct black coil (made in Germany or Spain) as the silver Brazilian coils are failing at a very high rate. I wouldn't want this very nice looking Carrera stranded along side the road somewhere.

Brian, thanks for the Info.

Yes, I changed out coil since the photo was taken.

I have been able to keep in top shape by having Jones Autowerks here in San Antonio maintain the car. They also have two 73 RS's they are restoring at the moment. One is a lightweight.

JTH 36,

Do you ever come up for any Hill Country PCA activities of for just a drive in the hills? I have a 74 US Carrera but had the engine built to RS specs with webers. It is very quick. Give me heads up if you are ever up this way.

Mark
