Best way to test drive a 911?
Although I have owned a Porsche before, it was a while ago and not a 911. Therefore I am new to the scene and am interested in buying. I have done enough research to make my eyes bleed and have narrowed my choice down to a G50 Carrera 3.2 or a 993. As I stated, I have spent the last two months reading everything I could find comparing the two, and I have decided that I just need to drive them before I can make my final decision.
So what is the best way to test drive one of these cars? I have searched for some for sale in my area (Virginia Beach), but there is only one 993 within 200 miles and it is a cab. I really want a coupe, so I feel bad asking to drive it when I know I am not going to buy it. Do I just call up a Porsche repair shop and ask them if they know of cars for sale in the area? The local PCA chapter won't let me join until I actually own a Porsche again (I have seen the Quest option though). I don't really know any other people with a 3.2 or 993, and I don't feel quite right asking someone I don't know to drive their car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
