91 944 Cabriolet sold at auction today for 8K, is this a deal?

I know a guy who test drove and then saw a 91 944 cabriolet sell at the auction in Atlanta for 8,000 with 78K. He said needed paint but was in fair condition. Whats you opinion as 'is this a deal or just a fair price?' Regards.

Well, he said that it needs paint so right there it's just barely a fair deal. Otherwise the standard "there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche" applies. If you look hard you can find cars in very nice condition and similar mileage for $12K. OTOH, it might be a nice driver as-is. My .02
