Price check 72 Targa T/E
Hello, just thinking about the unthinkable, listing my 72 targa and looking for some number advice. Just got married, new house (that needs work) not getting enough Targa time. Here are the details:
72 - T - tub (142000 on the odometer) 1970 - E - engine (rebuilt @100,000mi) 915 Trans turbo tie rods turbo style valve covers carrera chain tensioners H4 Headlights new Toyo Tires new shift bushings new carpet on the interior optima battery Le carra steering wheel ajusa aluminum pedals rs door panels the targa top needs a new skin, which I bought from our host, just haven't installed it yet The car runs great and really sticks to the road. I was told the PO used it in PCA track events. PO also put a 74 style reflector kit on the car and the paint is a lexus champaigne sort of metallic color. Paint is by no means perfect but it looks pretty good. Its a daily driver for sure, not a garage queen. I would like to get 12k out of it, not sure what other opinions are. Any opinions at all?

One photo is hard to tell.. why? rust.. not many early cars escape it.. hows the front pan? Door jams? Cowl? Longitudinals? Did you do the motor rebuild or a PO? How extensive are the records? How old are the suspension pieces/bushings? Is it still MFI? Carbed? These are the types of questions I would ask a seller. Flag mirror and update kit hurt the value of the Longhoods nowadays. Could always thro it on ebay and see where the market takes it.

All good points Racer... There are a couple small dime size bubbles under the paint on one of the doors. There are also a couple door dings as well. The paint isn't perfect by any means but it is a sound car. Pan looks good too. PO did all the work, other than some interior work, tires, battery, tune-ups etc. It is still MFI and runs great. But the records are not very extensive at all before I bought the car. Just looking for a place to start with it. If I end up keeping it I would like to get rid of the body updates, mainly the rear bumper.
Thanks for the input! Rick |
