Oil door

Hey gang, I was reading my little 911 red book and hit the part where they talk about how Porsche moved the oil tank's position to in front of the rear wheel to give better balance to the vehicle. Do you think a car with this feature is "worth more" than a comparable car without it? (Maybe some kind of collector value) Thanks!

Jon

1972. No. All pre '74 cars are "collector" cars. Porsche moved the tanks over the years but only put the exterior door on in 1972. Oh, and the 959 had the same door.

Ruf moved the oil tank and fitted the oil door too, because they needed the room for the fender-mounted intercoolers on the CTR...

It has proven to be that way. In my experience, the '72 is worth about a 10-15% market premium over a comparable '73.

For a long time, the '72 was worth a bit less for the same reason. But the car hobby is a bit faddish.
