victory motor cars
Anyone delt with them?
They have 100% feed back on ebay and have a load of air-cooled p-cars. I'm considering an 85 Turbo look car they have, but just don't trust them Let me know.

Do yourself a favor and do a Google search on the company, lots of info out there. My advice on VMC has been this. Do a search here on Pelican and on rennlist, there are many threads on this topic. If they have a car that fits your desires perfectly 100% then it surely can’t hurt to take a peak and inquire. Just be aware of a number of things.
He buys on eBay under several names and sells only under one name. You are going to pay a premium over the general market price to him. He has been found to post on boards as a satisfied customer touting his company He buys stamped service books and records folders off eBay to place in his cars. He advertises “warrantee" prominently on many of his auctions but when you read closer he only sells warrantees no cars come with them. He has threatened law suits against people who post on these boards about this topic and to former clients who have documented on these sites their horror stories with the deals they have with him. On the positive side there are also a number of people who have stepped up and say they had no issues with their dealings there. All that being known if he has the car you can’t live without make sure you’re well equipped to deal with the above. Make sure you’re willing to fly there and see in person the car you’re considering. Make sure you get a totally independent pre purchase inspection, NOT FROM A SHOP HE SUGGESTS. Being well equipped and prepared by knowing the tactics outlined you absolutely can buy a car from him. My personal opinion is that there are so many fish in the sea that I would probably wait till what I was looking for came along from some place else. There are several m491 cars listed here on Pelican and on eBay at this time.

There was an article in PML (Porsche Market Letter) two issues ago by William Agnew, who writes a column for them. He went to Texas to look at a couple of 993's at Victory for a friend and wrote up his experience. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.
The current issue of PML printed a letter from the owner of Victory which politely countered most of the complaints made by Agnew and he came across as a reasonable guy. I think Trader is right on--do your homework and buy with eyes wide open and you'll be OK. He probably has more P-cars per square-foot than anybody on the planet so you have a nice selection. I would personally find the car I wanted and then find a private party to purchase from.

I don’t read PML and I don’t know much about the publication so I can’t comment on that. The MO which the owner of Victory appears to use is to counter all kinds of publicity that’s not to his liking openly but he's been known to threaten people with law suits for saying not so nice things on public forums also. I just keep returning to the facts which I stated above about some of his sales tactics, that’s the kind of stuff that gives even the shady used car salesmen a bad name. Meanwhile they have a great looking m491 coupe which is on their site, don’t know if it’s still for sale or been sold already.

Actually, no he dosent. He leaves cars in his "inventory" for MONTHS after he's sold them sometimes. I live in Houston, been by there multiple times......NEVER had the car I wanted to look at......WON'T let you test drive one.

There is a Rennlister who purchased a car from Victory and it's still listed in inventory 12 months later.

Agree
I agree with Trader, there are lots of fish out there, no need to deal with a guy that has (at best) a questionable reputation. I have only dealt with the guy on email and the response reeked of "used car salesman."
No matter what he says to defend himself, whatever a customer "sees" or "feels" while in his presence or his facility is perception--and perception is reality. My advice--if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.... Good luck with your purchase. |

Kev- I think that car was sold in Colorado on Craiglist- I spoke w/Robert Neal about it and he confirmed it was bought in CO around the time the owner on Craigslist sold it. The car was advertised for $31,500/obo w/2 sets of wheels- one of his buyers found it and shipped it to Houston, washed it, kept the spare wheels and now he wants in the neighborhood of $36k for it. You can get a real nice 930 for that- with the performance to back up the looks. I think it's a nice car w/low miles...so I imagine it would do well if you had it PPI'd... but you can probably find the same car here being sold by an enthusiast with first-hand knowledge of the car for much less. I've talked with Robt Neal a few times and he seems like a nice guy- but he definitely charges a premium (guess we all need to make a living). I'd shop around for the best deal imho unless you absolutely have to have that specific car.
