120K miles, Rebuilt replacement engine at 90K miles. Repaint six years ago in original black. Interior excellent except small split in dash (of course) and torn drivers seat. front pan completely replaced by #1 Porsche shop in Chicagoland.

Ummm... Yeah. You can get $18k for that.

You could probably get $22-25k for it too.

If she's rust free, oil leak free, had the dash and seat fixed, a fresh 15k service done, fresh tires, brakes, shocks and clutch and if she has no other major issues, you could get $30k for it.

Any more pics of her, Glen? Are those sport seats? Sport seats are worth quite a bit. My interpretation of the market is that it is softening rapidly, but yours looks like a nice example, and if you are patient, I am sure you could move her for $18k. I personally am skeptical that a T will make $30k, but that's just me. Are those real or fake Fuchs? How does the paint look up close?

MFI or carbs?

if the car is on mechanical injection, it will add to this car
as 72-73 2.4L MFI are valued higher and more sought after.

wheels look like 4.5x14"

Your car looks very nice, but the devil is in the details if you are looking for prices in the 20-30K range. Take a look at a couple of 72's in the for sale section--compare the pictures and descriptions with what you have and I think you'll have a better idea of how your car compares.

The two 72T's that you provided links to as a comparison are both nice cars. They have both also been for sale for longer than 3 months which leads me to argue that the asking prices are high.
The sepia car looks really nice in the pic's, but Sepia is not a color favorite for many (I kind of like it though - brown is the new viper green ). I have had contact with the owner and he advised that the paint is mediocre and needs a repaint. I made an offer on the building in the cost of work needed to the car in order to make it really nice, which the owner was unwilling to accept. The photos seem to show really nice paint condition, but it is not. Car also needs restored seats and dash.
Don't know enough about the condition of the white car, but it looks pretty nice from a distance. I believe someone from this board was looking for a shop to do a PPI on a few weeks ago. Perhaps the car is sold by now.

Here are a few more pictures. It is a 2.4 MFI rebuilt 10K miles ago. 112K miles total. Front pan replaced. Paint is great! Seats poor. Carpets and headliner are excellent.

Do you guys sugest I set up a website with all the pics and records?

If all you wish to do is drive traffic and get an idea of value, spend $75 and put it on ebay and pull the add if reserve is not met.

Its a nice car. I hate seeing "T"s get close to $20K because, well, they are just "T"s. The fewer the "s options, the worse they are. Many were cut up to make RS clones because they were perceived as having little value to begin with. Their value is only tied to the "S" market that exploded. I (naively) don't believe S or even E buyers cross shop with Ts. I think "T" sellers are hoping to just catch the wave and make some money along the way.

I had a fellow offer to trade his 4spd T (1971?) for my Boxster. He thought his T was worth $22-25K. I am not sure it was. The deal never went through. But after driving it, I thought, how can these underpowered (125-140hp) cars seemingly command the same $20K that a 3.2 Carrera, Boxster S or 964 command, from a performace standpoint. Still doesn't make sense.

Sorry for the rambling.

Racer,
These are considered classic cars now, not really shopped against other cars you mention. If you look around at other classic cars the early 911's offer alot of car for the money. I think a solid early 911 T is a great 20K car. Also you have to consider what the Euro is worth and that really nice S's are bringing 6 figures now. I'll agree they don't wow you with performance but you have consider the era in which they were built. These are still very capable reliable fun to drive cars that are increasing in value now that the rest of world has figure out what us Porsche guys have known for years.

Phil... I hear what you are saying about the "collector" status and all.. but I think it is scary to see the much maligned mid year cars are now coming out and are asking $13-18K? and the Carrera (usa) which was nothing more than a trim package (ok, so they flared the rear and put on 7's) are on the market for $20-30K? I think the market for these cars is based purely on speculation. And as a fan of these cars, and growing up around them when they were new, the prices asked for them nowadays just seem crazy.

Porsche Crest 74-75 Carrera's were more than just that!

first off VERY low production..... 528 in 74...390 in 75
Targas even less ......under 200 per year
second all aluminum suspension
sway bars front and rear
same engine as S
power windows standard equipment

and the only car that carries the real Carrera name!

they were under estimated because everyone frowned on the big bumper look,
yet the Turbos were never ragged on in the same manner.

I think they are well worth their current market prices and ought to catch up as there are few.

just my .02 cents reflecting on the markets attitude.
If they were'nt really worth the chee$e...as they say...
the market would have proved it!
