price check 3.0l core engine

What would be the fair market value of a 3.0l engine from a 1983 911sc?

I know it is a core engine and would need to be worked on but it has everything from top to bottom

Thanks for your input

Just as a point of reference I sold a 3.0L engine and a really good 915 for $3500. The engine had broken headstuds and was going to need a rebuild. I think I sold it too cheap in hindsight. Depending on condition and what is wrong with it I would say it should be worth $3000 + or - $250 or so. Finding a buyer is a pain in the butt though, and the person I sold it to picked it up. So I didn't have to deal with shipping.

Do you have anymore details?

Rich

The engine was a running engine it leaks a lot of oil thru the oil return tubes I drove the car before taking it out and the engine ran pretty rough but I think it was maybe dirty fuel and a host of other things. I think it would need a rebuild before it goes on a car. I think I'm going to price it at around $3000 obo

I haven't gotten much feed back at this forum I'll try the for sale one

Thanks

Yeah unfortunetly this forum does not get a lot of foot traffic. 3000 sounds pretty reasonable for that engine. You should get some interest at that price. Good luck
