Trying to sell my 1983 Widebody SC with mod. OK price???
This is my listing...
I need some input on prices.. had a guy coming to pick it up for $19,500. But of course 3rd gear went out again.. i dont have the money to take it to the shop. But i figure even it was a synchro dropping it $1500 would cover it.. What do you think?? 1983 porsche 911 SC Super Carrera, Wide body turbo look (done right) steel. 3.0 injected (with about 15,000 miles) ported & polished heads, Full stainless dual exhaust, ARP head studs, hydraulic chain tensionors, GT2 cams (sounds almost like an american muscle at idle) and full gaskets and seals. 5 speed (which just lost 3rd gear for second time) the first time my linkage needed adjusting, i'd assume its the same thing this time. 930 tie rods, and lowered an inch. Nice custom leather interior, with a rip on the dash pad. Brand new dual stage Gaurds Red (6 months old) Brand new 3 piece Forgeline rims ($4400). A must see. Has a Real RUF spoiler $5000. if you can find one. And a real RUF front nose. (Plus it runs like a real RUF) Has 170,000 miles on chassis. Car has little corks, but by far extremely reliable, and fun. Over 14k put into this car just in paint and wheels, in the last 6 months. Cars been fully serviced ready to drive it home. I'd like $18,000 cash. Just had it on Ebay and it went to $15k but i'm going to hold off for a while. Would be interested in 10K plus an E36 M3 or hot 328 or something of that nature. If you guys and gals think my price is too high let me know so i can get ready for the realization and heart break haha. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You might want to let people know when the top end was done and who did it with the paperwork. Also I would assume it needs pretty much a full tranny rebuild so plan on more than 1500 bucks. I don’t recall RUF making that rear or front spoiler. You also might want to consider going back to the regular fuchs and selling those wheels themselves. The interior might be a turnoff for a lot of folks but not much you can do about it. Its not easy to sell a car with the tranny that way and the market has sort of spoken on eBay. You got 15.5 on eBay? And you’re looking for 3k more? That might be a stretch in this market. Sure looks like a nice car. Do you have the original wheels, and spoilers?

The wing is stamped ruf on the underside. the engine was re-built 15,000 miles ago about 3 years ago. and im almost 100% sure its just the linkage.
Maybe i should just get that fixed before selling. And the way i have the car is the way it has to go because i sold everything else. And the interior was like that when i got the car. It got bid up to $15,000 but didnt meet my reserve.. You think i should let it go at $15? |

Only you can answer that question. The car presents well in the photos. IMHO I would forget mentioning how much the RUF pieces cost and maybe mention and post the paper work on your ebay showing the motor job. I would 100% get the linkage fixed and then you can scrap any questions about being able to drive it, then its a solid running and driving car. I would guess you could do a bit better than 15 but the markets pretty lite these days and the season is closing in the east and mid west.

Thanks you've been helpfull.
Im going to let it run it's course on ebay. and then start fresh and try to get the linkage fixed. I'm hoping it's not a synchro or shift fork. but i'd feel horrible if i sold it and somebody had to drop a bunch of money into without knowing.. |

Looks like a nice car. If it were me I would need the money pretty darn bad to sell it at 15k, just drive it. I put my 3 year old in the back of my cars.
Of course I would scrap both spoilers and sell them plus sell the wheels to fund a new no spoiler deck lid and a set of 17 inch forged Fuchs style rims. Then I would probably go for the full trans rebuild and something like the Wevo shift set up for the 915 and a nice set of pole position seats... well you get the idea. I think its an excellent platform, assuming the paint and body are as good and solid as you say and the 15k on the motor is a good build. rework the suspension and update those sugar scoop lights too. But thats a slippery slope

Fix the car or expect no where close to your price. For $18K, there are PLENTY of other choices out there, for what is, in essence, a luxury item (ie a non-necessity). Some would say that the people have spoken - its $15.5 for a non factory conversion whose mods may actual diminish value to those interested.
Why does the car keep losing 3rd gear? I know you think its just the linkage, but maybe its more?
