'77 930 value

Wondering about value for a car I looked at today.

Car is a '77 930 - owned by current owner since '79. Brown paint is pretty rough, maybe a 10 footer. Car was wrecked (superficial, bumpers, etc.) and fixed by the shop I use, tags had '92 stickers on them, not run in the last 6 months or so, currently won't start, tires shot, tan interior in pretty good condition, doors shut well, 37K miles, etc etc etc

Anyone care to advise on a fair price for this car?

It would be turned into a '74 Carrera RS-ish.

Thanks,
Skip

15K in unknow condition but presumed all parts there...

kinda iffy with a turbo -

This car could be a steal. The early series turbos are gaining as a collectible.
With that said make sure the gold coin is gold bite it it might be chocolate. 37k, wrecked and put away wet....sounds dubious.

My mechanic has known the car and the owners for ever. Of everything, I'm probably most confident that the mileage is true.

I have no idea if $15K would buy this car. The only numbers thrown around were high teens or low twenties. No real discussion on price has taken place. I don't think either the owner nor I really know what the car is worth - my mechanic threw the numbers out there - and I don't think he was very confident either.

Thanks,

15k sounds right to me. But you'd want to keep it original to assure half way decent return in what you put into the car. Just my two cents,

I'm with George. Buy it, restore it, and keep it. If you must have an RS styled car, find an SC for half the investment and go wild.

If you are confident in this car; $15k to $20K would be a good purchase for a low mileage early series turbo. I have a friend who purchased a low mileage [16k miles] 78 turbo in excellent condition for $30k. I am sure he would tell you to have a very through PPI on the motor with an emphasis on the studs. I agree w/ Matt this wouldn't be a great RS candidate.
