Any one have a good handle on what 76-77 Turbos are selling for these days.
Thanks,
Phil

Phil,
There is a pelican in Norway who recently purchased a low mileage 1978 car. He is quite the expert on series 1 cars. I believe he could give you a fair valuation. My personal observation of these cars has been in the range of 25 to 30k for a clean car. Two cars have been on EBay recently.I will try to get you a better opinion via Norway.

Luke

Noraway calling...

The Series 1 are getting more sought after every year and if you find an unmolested one that is well maintained you should consider it for the collectability alone. If you want a daily driver or a hot rod then the series 2 is my advice.

I do not think that you will lose any money in the long run on a 25 - 30k car but i all comes down to the condition and originality. Anything below will have issues or dodgy history.

The financial situation in US these days will force more cars to surface but you will face competition from abroad due to the weak dollar.

When buying from a distance make sure to get a PPI from a professional or a local club.

The 930 was the ultimate car in the mid to late 70's and when these icons turn 30+ the collectors wake up. Just look at the 73 RS or the pre 74 S cars. They are impossible to get for normal money.

Going up in my non-scientific opinion. it doesn't hurt that the carbon fiber set prefers the later turbos. IF i had the cash i would not hesitate to drop upper 20's on a NICE early turbo (presuming it was largely stock).

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

I try to keep an eye on what 76-77 930's are going for as I'm thinking of putting mine on the market this spring. I have noticed prices seem to be climbing this last year or so. Two have recently sold on Ebay. A very low mileage (4400 miles) example for $44K and another very nice example for $35K. It seems like these rarely broke $20K a couple years ago. They now seem to average in the mid $20's.
