Thoughts on this 89 cabrio?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=396183
This is exactly what I'm looking for - 89 cabrio in red or black with natural leather interior. It's a hell of a good price at 13.5K, but that makes me wonder if there's a reason for such a low price. The problems stated are quite minor and wouldn't bother me. Sounds like it's been well maintained. My only possible thought is 154K miles on the odometer = rebuild time? I've noticed other posts by the seller here on Pelican talking about refreshing the engine, but nothing noting major problems or imminent need of a rebuild. Even with a $10K rebuild, a $23K 89 cabrio with a 0-miles rebuild would be a damn good price, but out of my range for sure.

Now at $12.5K. That is probably a good buy. The top is looking tired & the dash crack is pretty ugly but overall for the money . . .

There is definitely work to be done on this car if you wanted it perfect. It's got high mileage as well.
However, to offset the stuff that needs to be done (and what you'll find that needs to be done once you get it home), it's priced at rock bottom if it runs and drives well. I would however determine the engine's condition as best you can before buying. |
