Insurance time for my 73
I'm getting ready to call my insurance agent to get coverage for my 73. It will be a stated value plan. It seams that the values are all over the place, and I'm looking to get an idea and what would be a fair replacement value.
I'd consider the car to be a very nice driver. All the suspension has been gone through, new torsion bars, shocks, rubber, tires, ect. I replaced everything that I thought needed replacing as I originally planned on keeping the car for a while. The car was stripped to bare metal and rust areas cut out and new metal welded in. The interior has a replacement dash with no cracks, I removed the door pockets. Seats are new replacements. New carpet, but its the cheap stuff. Its a 73.5, but the engine is not original. Its actually a 72 according to the engine number. But it does have the CIS. It also has H1's. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I dont want to short change myself, but I don't want to be paying for more than its worth either. Thanks.

Mine is insured for $25,000. It is in similar shape as yours. With my sport seats and wheels I am pushing it to $35,000.

I ended up putting its value at $20,000. It will cost me $246 through Hagerty. I think that will be close enough. I need to get this one licensed and back on the road to see how much I like it. If someone were to offer me $25,000 I'm afraid I'd have to sell it.

My '72T has a situation very similar to yours; It has a 73.5 CIS motor in it.
It's a nice driver, runs great, shifts great, leaks a lot. Interior is a basement job by me, but I have all the original vinyl. I have mine insured by Hagerty for $20k and they didn't even blink. If you haven't researched the difference between "STATED" and "AGREED" value, I think you definitely should. ![]()

The quote says Agreed value. Is this good or bad?

That's good. "Agreed' is where the two of you (you and the ins. co) "agree" that the car is worth what you say it is. Companies like Hagerty, etc. will hand you a check for the "agreed" value if your car is stolen and not recovered.
"Stated" is where you "state" that you -think- the car is worth said amount and then they hose you later and tell you it's not. ![]()
