1975 Carrera Widebody for $11,000?

Sorry about the double post from the FS side, but I screwed up:

My neighbor has a 1975 Carrera widebody with 45,000 miles on it that he wants to sell for $11,000. The car looks fairly good. (No rust, interior with no tears, etc.) It starts and runs well.

Is $11,000 realistic? I can't tell if the magnesium cases have had the head studs helicoiled or anything. It has an 11 blade fan. Should I worry about the engine losing the head studs?

Ok, here's some more info about this car:

The neighbor has a stack of receipts for this car. In that stack is a receipt that says that the engine has had "Time Certs" installed in the engine. It also has an 11 blade cooling fan. It also has an exhaust for a Thermactor, but all of the ports have been brazed shut.

So I guess that this means that the case studs are not going to pull out of the magnesium housing.

This car was purchased by my neighbors father in Florida in 1994. It had about 36,000 miles on it at that point. This means that it has had 9,000 miles put on it in the last 14 years. I'm sure it was garaged stored during that time.

The paint appears to be original ( for the most part) and in good condition. It does appear that the hood was repainted at some time in its life.

So: what is this car worth? Can anybody help me figure out what it's worth?

worth

might be a pretty good deal. is it a real VIN Carrera?
the VIN should read 91154xxxxx
the 5 is the year 4 is for Carrera
3 is the S and the other basic 911 were #2
only 390 real Carrera's for 1975
that in itself is good.
even if its not $11K with receipts is very fair if no hidden issues

Unfortunately, the VIN number is: 91152XXXXX. So this means that it's a 911 that someone turned into a Carrera?

How can I tell what it has for an engine? Does the number stamped on it mean anything?

Correct, that's a garden variety '75 911s. There were no widebodies that long ago. There was a Euro turbo in '75 and then turbos in the U.S. from '76. The engine number has meaning. It tells you the year, type of F.I. etc. All of that info is available from Porsche.

The VIN indicates a basic 75 911 as 914agogo indicated, not the 911S. Check the engine # on the right side of the fan, and the base (not the housing). It is on the verticle piece below the fan and has a number that begins with a "star" followed by a 6X5XXXX and ends with another "star"--at least it should have those two digits in that location. The first "X" in the sequence will be a number that will tell you if the engine is an S, normal, or Carrera. The 5 is for the model year, in your case a 75. The first four numbers are most important to determine if it's a 75 Carrera engine--at least engine case.
