Beater 1970 911S #matching, complete What is it worth?

I have just gotten hold of a complete 1970 911S with matching numbers. Its all there except for what the rust has taken away. Its been sitting behind a garage for many years. Its got rust, lots of rust. Its that eggplant color, the one I can't pronounce with a black interior. I just couldn't pass it up. I bought it for what the brakes and wheels are worth.

Now I'm sitting here with a complete #s matching car and I don't have the heart to strip it for parts. I just cant do it. This car needs to go to a good home.

I don't have the time, money or space to give it the restoration that it deserves.

The engine, brakes wheels and transmission all have an inherent value. But what about a rusty body, all the serial numbers, the S stuff, etc. etc. etc......its got to have some value, right? So What is it really worth? And don't give me that "its only worth what someone will pay" crap.... duh?

Any thoughts, ideas, advise are all welcome.

No pictures yet. A picture tells a thousand stories, and also hides a lot of sins.

Thanks to all
Gunther

without the rust issues $15K+depending on the options and condition of extras.... this rusty one?? if complete, it may bring $10K for its bits and pieces,
however the rust will eliminate many potential restorers specially if the suspension points are eaten up!

In a local person to person sale, you'll likely get $10-12k. If you put it on Ebay and expose it to the European market, I think it will easily surpass $15k and might even hit $20K+

Ignoring the exchange rates, a large part of the value over there is that they just have so many fewer of them over there. I recently sold a rusty heap of a '65 912 to the UK for $500. Freight is going to cost them 4 times that and then making the car right will cost tens of thousands more. But they are making it an FIA 2l spec vintage racecar and they've got to have that verifiable vin. There wasn't a single person in the states that I showed it to that thought it was anything but scrap. But over there, they just don't have very many to choose from and it makes it worth more to them and makes them more willing to put together...

Here is an excellent valuation I found in a French magazine. It is in euros so multiply the number by roughly 1.5. The values of these cars are not dropping. I would post detailed pictures here and on the early S site.

French RS Magazine valuation:
4 levels: Concurs / Excellent / Driver / Restoration
2.2 S 70-71 58,000/36,000/24,000/12-18,000
2.2 S Targa 70-71 54,000/34,000/22,000/11-17,000

Based upon this valuation a low of 16,500 to a high of 27,000 USD.

It also sounds like the recent car sold on EBay. Check the archives for the last two weeks; the car was out of PA.

Without looking at the car and understanding the structural condition of the tub it is foolish to quote the value of any car.

Yes a complete matching #'s S is a desirable project and is worth saving.

Figure out what it will need and know what you are getting into. If it is very rusty and needs extensive mech work walk in with your eyes open.

I am sure there will be someone who will want to rescue it, so good luck.

OK I give..if in fact that was the aubergine car ,I guess Brad bought it for 10K sight unseen
then shipped it out for 1500.00,promptly turned it on the Bay for a tidy 8500.00 profit..
thats what I call working the market! Well sold to say the least...
