CS vs RS

How do you feel the 87-89 Club Sport models desirabililty will change compared to the RSA? Certainly far fewer were brought here, and the current pricing has remained higher than a nice RS America (as far as I can tell).

While I haven't driven a CS, I imagine it to be a much more "hardcore" model than even the RSA when compared to regular production cars. I am actually quite surprised at the market strength shown recently with the RSA model. It will be interesting to see if we are at the top, or if the strength of the 964 RS and other factors continue to pull it along. In comparison, the CS, while commanding a strong figure, seems like the forgotten model.

911CS vs 911RSA

Just noticed this un-answered thread!
Since no one else did, as the PCA 911CS Register chair, I felt it my "duty" to respond. ;)

I've been a big fan of the RSA and love the 964 lines, but I've never driven one. I have driven a '97 993 and I can say the CS has a more connected road feel and "raw" handling/braking feel for sure. I would think the RSA, being a 964, would be heavier than the 2601lb CS. On the other hand, I'll be the first to admit that I wish Porsche had done more extensive lightening, suspension and engine mods with the CS. One of these days I'll have to drive a 964 and get a seat of the pants impression!
The CS is definitely the "forgotten model" owing to only 28 of them being shipped to the US; many Porsche fans see the car and say they thought it was only sold in the UK! I'll also admit that the value of the CS is primarily driven by its scarcity; it is regrettable to see more than a few CS's in the last few years "disappear" to collectors who do not want to correspond with the Register "drivers".
I'm not sure of the current market for the RSA but the asking price of a US 911CS in average nice condition and under 50,000 miles will likely be in the area of $55-65K; some will be less or more than this based on condition, mileage and other considerations such as "one of" color etc. A very low mileage '88CS in Irish Green sold last year for over $100K.
Anyone reading this post who has a CS (or knows someone with a CS) and wishes to join the CS Register, please PM me. I still don't have owner info on about six of the CSs. My contact info is also in each edition of the PCA Panorama mag. (End of commercial) :)

Well there was a real 964 RS sold in US, they were the 964 Carrera Cups. Very rare but a very special car.

Both of the cars in question are interesting only because we didn't get the real deal here in the states.

In 1992 you could walk into a Porsche Dealer and buy a US street legal 964 RS for $78,000, there were only 45 of them.
