I am picking up some parts need to know value

I couldn't resist when I got a tip on some parts. I figure to flip them but thought I would check here with you guys first on what I may or may not have. I am picking it all up on Friday and should be good to go. Parts are from a 1977 911 targa. The guy didn't know really anything about the car as he just pulled the parts and scrapped the shell. Anyway I have the engine and trans along with the rear shafts/rotors/control arms. The front suspension is there. He had a perfect deck lid with tail and another plain lid, windshield, hood, fenders, and a pair of doors with all internals. I didn't get a great look but he wasn't asking much so I bit. The only number I pulled off of the engine was on the fan shroud? 901106105r and it was a five blade if I remember right. Engine ran but other than that???? I know, it isn't much to go on but you guys are always on it.

Flipping is a game for the very well educated. Otherwise you buy 'bargains' that nobody else wants.

A '77 engine with no history is a "core" and worth under $2K. A '77 trans with no history is probably worth $700. the suspension parts are probably worth $800 or so, total. The whale tail is most likely aftermarket and worth very little. the plain lid may be worth $125. Hood and fenders, maybe $500 total. Doors, $175 for the left and $75 for the right. I have no idea where you are, but that will affect value. The numbers I've used are observed market values where Porsches are relatively common.

Be aware that buyers will want you to vouch for quality and/or ask lots of questions and require many photos. You will potentially learn a lot about shipping via pallet and packaging heavy, awkward items. All in all, it's not for the faint of heart.

Thanks tech. I am getting the whole lot for about the price of the trans. Thanks for the info. I am in no way new to the buying selling, just new to the 911 scene. I really appreciate the response.

Bill, why are left doors worth more than right ones? I'm not in the market, just curious.

911s are most often solo machines. The driver's door gets 10X the use, and the poor little door stop gets snapped off, resulting in the door edge flaring and breaking. There are also instances where the door stop area breaks out of the door shell... So, good driver's doors are about 1/3 as common as good passenger doors, in my experience.
