2003 911 C2 Advice

My brother has a 2003 911 C2 he's about to return to dealer at end of lease. The residual is $39,750. The car has 20,048 miles and is in emmaculate condition. He had all scheduled maintenance done and recently had the catalytic converter replaced. he also put on brand new Michellin Pilots 2k miles ago for $1600. The car has the custom interrior paint (yellow to match the color of the body), $3800 custom sport seats, side skirts, moon roof, and 18" wheel upgrade.

I'm trying to decide what the real value of the car is in current market conditions with the high gas prices and declining auto sales.

I can buy the car at the residual. If I decide to buy it I'm thinking I can still sell the car at above what I paid for a year from now. I drive less than 4,000 miles a yr.

I need to make a decision in the next couple of days. Your advice/opinions about this purchase would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Even with the low miles it might be tough to sell the car for much above that right now, let alone in 12 months and 4k more miles. Not to mention you'd be on the hook for the sales tax and insurance plus whatever else the cars going to need over that years time. If you wanted to buy an 996 for a year there are better ways to do it then paying that price IMO.
