Price Check - '83 Cab
 

I have an unmolested, upgraded '83 Cab - triple black. Everything in excellent shape with about 70k miles. Can I get low $20k's? Considering selling if I can get at least $20k. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1216207852.jpg

Market is slow at the moment I am sure you get $20k with the right buyer looking for SC cab, but are you not asking $25k? at this price you are in Carrera and 964 range which buys more then a SC would have to offer

That is me asking for $25k. Just testing the market and gauging interest. The "right buyer" is the key. In this economy you never know when I may have to "cash in" in a hurry.

If your car is nearly flawless with service up to date, records, a water tight history, original paint and interior in nice shape with a good top and in bone stock condition, this car could bring $20k quickly. Really nice SC's seem to be up in price. There is always the slew of average to good SC's in the lower to mid teens, but nice stuff seems to be rising just a bit and $20k SC's aren't uncommon anymore. I'm relatively active in my region and do as much concours judging as I can and it's been awhile since I've seen a mint SC... Since the SC is such a great driver, has exceptional reliability and were cheap for years, most of them have been driven. Wear, tear and age have taken their toll on most of these cars.

If you want the absolute top of the market, get rid of the rims and replace with correct 15" or 16" Fuchs with black centers. I can't tell if the spoilers are period correct, but if not, it might be worth it to restore the car to an 'as delivered' state. Pull any other aftermarket stuff off the car and replace with stock equipment. Spend a few hours cleaning the car (not just 15 minutes vacuuming and 35 minutes washing it) and get all the surfaces clean and dressed. Or pay a good detailer $200-$300 to get the car looking perfect. People that pay top dollar want virtually flawless cars.

If you want a convertible SC, 1983 is the one and only year. It's hard to find tight, clean 911's and if you find one, you typically have to pay up. Let's hope that type of buyer finds your car when it's time to sell. A triple black SC cabrio with low miles for it's age is a relatively rare car. That's a good thing when it comes to selling.

Jay - Good input! The wheels (16" Fuchs) and spoilers (front and rear) are period correct and came with the car. I've upgraded suspension items, lowered and corner balanced along with an upgraded stereo - but most of the items are things that can be reversed. The only thing I added that I am not sure can be reversed is the cyclops center brake light?
