Hmmmmm.......
A very well built car. Mechanically a top car; all the little things are even done to a high degree [cad plating] . Brakes, suspension, motor, tranny, shifter excellent. The interior doesn't move me.
An 83 backdate to a 74 Carrera is interesting but a bit obscure and ironically in my opinion devalues the car. I am just not a big backdate / clone fan. The 74 carrera, poor man's RS, selection narrows the market dramatically. The mechanical work, the true value here, could have just as easily been completed on a stock 1974 US Carrerra. In the US this is a $ 30,000 to $35,000 car. Find the buyer it really talks to and you might get more. A mechanically similar 1973 RS clone sold earlier this year for $50,000. Pop a 3.6 into it change the interior and it is a $50,000 +/- car. Much like the 87 TRE backdate also currently available. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=423451 I like this car even more. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=421550 The wheels are amazing I want a set for my 73!

$50,000 Ebay Clone.
![]() Here is the Ebay car from earlier this year. It was a mechanically equal car but in a RS configuration.

Hi Mac,
I appreciate your comments. I was thinking that this would be a great drivers car for autocross and DE but something you wouldn't sweat too much about if things were to go wrong. I was curious about what you thought the pricing would be. I don't know enough of all the accuracy details but it looks like there has been an attempt to get a lot of things done in the spirit of the original. For me in Fl. the '83 body shell would b an advantage. I keep thinking that if I had this car I would spend a lot more time behind the wheel than I do with my '88 slant.

Kilo,
IMO, It is too well done for a autocross and DE driver. It is more of a cars and coffee type. I saw a very nice Green SC on the board the other day out of Seattle that would fit your requirements. I will look for it. You sure you have room for 4 911s? Here is a very nice 74 recreation that didn't sell for $50,000.

I certainly don't have room for 4!
But I was thinking that in certain respects my cars found me more so than I found them. In thinking about that idea I realized that had this car appeared prior to the slant I would be doing a lot more driving than I do now. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the experiences that each one brings but It would be hard for me to keep the '74 clone off the road. The slant because of condition and rarity is treated much differently.

Mac,
You have come to the crux of my psychosis.... If it were a real '74 Euro Carrera I doubt I would be able to drive it with the wanton abandon that I could with this car ![]()

Probably high $60s would close the deal. The car is built for hard driving!
