Fans of the 1974 911S

A recent '74S for sale in the UK is asking 30K pounds sterling. Check out

www.impactbumpers.com

Now, I recognize this is a very special car. My dismantled copy down in the garage is far off from this bench mark.

And before you CIS detractors begin with the negative waves...these are rare cars. Just a little over 1,300 for world-wide consumption. And if you've ever driven one, you'll know

For those wanting to do the 3.0 swap, think hard and think twice.

This 1974 US Carrera 2.7 is currently at a bid of $30,100 on eBay, reserve not met!

I know the Euro 2.7 MFI Carreras are appreciating nicely, but hadn't realised the US CIS ones are in such demand. It'll be interesting to see how much it goes for...

My folks had a '74 US S. Ran fine (with the exception of lots of blown airboxes) and around 30K miles (they bought it new) the motor went kaplooy. Rebuilt with a motor more resembling the 2.7RS motor. Now THAT was a fun car. As a regular 2.7S, not shabby.. relatively light (compared to SCs/Carerras) but not an overpowering ride either. Well balanced you could say.

On the plus side, time has "vindicated" these cars. Any car that gets to 30+ years old DOES become more exclusive and the more original, the better. I don't think I would search out a '74-77 911, but I wouldn't kick one out of the garage either.. even if I still consider them the "runt" of the litter (65-89 cars)
