Porsche Crest 911/930 Track/Race/ Street? What is it Worth?

Holly Cow I need some help here.

Drivers Ed. Track Car. It could be made street legal. What is this worth?

1978 911 SC converted to Slope Nose 930 Rocket ship.

The 3.0 liter Turbo motor is Fast.
It has Higher compression pistons, 964 cams, Upgraded K27 964 turbo charger, Adjustable Boost, Fuel Controller, Forced Air Intake, Large Intercooler, 3 Angle Valve Job & High RPM Springs, High Torque Starter, Racing Open Header Exhaust.

930 4-speed transmission with Posi.

The Car handles incredibly neutral which I thought was nearly impossible for a 930. The Suspension is set perfect.
It has Big Reds in front, Drilled Rotors, Stainless Steel Lines & Kelsey –Hayes Rear Calipers. (Bigger Than Turbo) Large Rear Sway Bar.
It has 17” Fikse Wheels & Hoosier Tires that have one Track day on them.

All business inside.
Bolt in roll cage
Recaro race seats
New Simpson belts
RS door panels, Lexan side & rear windows
Stripped interior (no carpets or rear seats)

Fiberglass Bumpers & front Spoiler has a Splitter.
Whale tail, Steel slope nose front end and Rear flares with air inlets.

Tell me what you think. Oh and don’t give me it’s only worth what someone….
The parts alone are a mint. And all the time …..WOW

THIS CAR IS THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE WITH YOUR CLOTHS ON
Ahhhhhhhhhhh……..Priceless

I'll play Do you want to sell it or do you want to make your money back. Its a VERY soft market right now for almost any Porsche that isn't a 356 or longhhood 911. Its not an original SC nor an original 930. It would also seem tough to classify and be competitive in PCA, POC,SCCA and maybe even NASA classes. As a street car it looks like its a little loud (based on what I can see of the interior in these pics).

What type of suspension? (TB or Coilovers?); Sway bars? Monoballs? What kind of gas does it need (pump or race?); Any Dyno numbers for the motor? Is the motor built from the SC 3.0 or from an early turbo motor? Is it intercooled (I assume it is, but maybe its not? )

The other hard part of the "sale" is I imagine the demographic for a 30 y/o track car is limited to begin with. Remember all the competitors for the same money for a track car, street car, etc... To me ratty, original 930s are low 20K.. Cream puffs are $40k... so.. maybe $25-30K based on learning more specifics?

911/930

Hi racer,
Thanks for your reply. You have a lot of valid points and good questions.

The market is soft and there are less people with discretionary funds available. But the car needs a new home and I’m sure someone will give it one.

The car has large Sway bars (they look like Charlie bars or the really expensive Weltmeisters), Torsion bars, but no mono balls. She has a real 1977 turbo motor with all the upgrades listed, plus a large 930S intercooler. And runs on 93 octane pump gas. We estimate, with all the mods that it puts out about 400hp to the crank.

The car was run at PCA events and did well. I think it would make a fine NASA racer running in GTS. You could add stuff and turn it into a competitive all out racer.

As far as a street car, it’s more of a hot rod, the kind you run on the weekend for short trips or hop to the grocery store and get a few items with.

I think $25k-$30k is in the ball park. I calculated that the parts alone, used, would be over $30,000.
