Nicely Flipped
I'll preface by saying that I have no opinion regarding people who flip cars. This find was solely a result of my being bored while stuck in an apartment in the process of relocating.
Someone picked this low mileage 85 up for a reasonable price. Fairly well bought. Then, manages to turn it for a tidy profit 11 days later. My personal opinion is this car went for more than it was really worth the second time but who am I. The only reason this stood out to me was that I was browsing completed auctions and these were both completed sales. Plus, you don't see brothel red interiors too frequently. I guess you need the right buyer for that color. Anyway, found it interesting since there has been so much discussion on flipping lately. |

Moral of the story: Take lots of high quality photos in a nice setting on a beautiful day with a just detailed car. I have to say it does look a lot better the second time around!

Timing plays a part as well.. as that 2nd buyer may have not been looking 11 days prior, or may not have looked in the location (ebay) during the time it was first sold.

What a relief to not see a lot of body damage from a rollover. But then, I guess flipping is done end-to-end. Way too much the 2nd time. Must agree with geshaghi's observation.

That was a strong price on EBay for an 1985.

Flippage!
I would've thought the first Ebay $23.xx sale price had just about hit the proper market equilibrium, considering all factors....and I would be wrong! I agree with Macroni, strong price. Man that is a beautiful car though. Would be great if Keith Martin (Sports Car Market magazine principal) would do for Porsche 911 pre-964 models-- an "Alfa-Bits"-type monthly feature..... (for those not familiar, SCM devotes a 1/3 page blurb each month to chronicling three or four interesting vintage Alfa Romeo Ebay transactions, including a pic plus editorial commentary worthy of Jeremy Clarkson. This car would be a good candidate).

Spectacular car! This wasn't obvious the first time around. I actually think even the second guy did okay, if it's a keeper.

That is a very nice car. But $31K for an '85? In this economy? Either the buyer just fell in love with the color combo or some kid was playing on his parent's account.
That is a top-of-the-market price at a time when most sellers would like to just get out alive. If this sale goes though, congrats to the seller for taking a risk and having the balls to go full throttle ahead. |

I agree with you guys: nice car but I thought the first price was in line with the car's current value. It was on my "watch list" but I certainly didn't think there was much money to be made on reselling it when it went for over $23k. Nice profit on what appears to be a gutsy deal.

That's a rare car! I've only seen one other black Carrera with cancan red interior...and it's sitting in my workshop as a roller.
Does anyone else know of any SC/Carreras with black exteriors and cancan red interiors? If so I'd love to see pics! |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showpost.php?p=1569971&postcount=13 It was previously Rick K's car, before that Lucky (the guy who posted the pics), and some time before that 175k911's, who was the original owner of the car. |
