68 912 what do you think?

It is not mine. Thinking to get it.
It is for sale. Wondering what is right $$$ for it? .....and , yes I know steering wheel is not original....

Looks pretty clean...........

If the under body is equally as clean ( rust free ) and the engine and tranny are in good `driver ` condition I`d say $10 to $15K. Prices are commonly approaching $20K or better for a pristine one.

Front bumperettes appear to me to be rolled under: is the front bumper damaged? Is there an associated tweak to the front tub? Left door appears 'sprung' at leading edge, as is typical with broken door stop.

Overall: pleasing color +if original. easily set back to the correct wheel & road wheels. Drilled-out door panels will be difficult to replace with correct ones.

I agree on the $10-15K range, assuming no chassis tweak.

I'm sure that car was recently restored by a guy in South Jersey and offered for sale in Panorama for $18k last year. I had a passing interest in the car and the seller seemed decent enough. I'd be curious to know what you think of the car when you see it in person as the pictures he sent me look impressive. The steering wheel seems an odd choice given the overall original feel of the restoration.

Yes, this car was FS in S.NJ last year. It was on CL for something like $20K. I wonder why it ended up at auction?

Is it possible to mount them upside down? They do look tweaked. Also, the shift knob and boot are not original.

If those license plate frames are metal. I'll buy one off ya!

And I'd say $10-$15k is about right.

Update!

Just got in, after looking at a car.

Here are the pictures and youtube video of running engine. Had no chance to test drive it, but friend of mine, that wors at auction , told me that car was driven in .
Title is NJ Clear. Reason for sale? Have no idea. This sort of car would sell on ebay or mobile.de EZ. Ofcourse I don't know what is Reserve Price, but will see tomorow for how much it goes.

Sorry for video quality and it is here:

Hello KG,

hope you don't want to buy this car! After looking at the detail pictures I would say this is a rust bucket with a poor overspray. There will be lots of surprises in the car. A close check for bondo would be a good way to start. The car also seems to have had at lest one accident. Reason for sale? I would say: the pictures tell it. If mechanics are good the car will have a certain value - but what I see from the chassis it is a parts car...
This is impressive when I compare the pictures above with the ones you have taken. Perfect for sale pictures and perfect "this is the truth" pictures. Paintcode states "sand-beige" as the original color, a standard color.

This car won`t even sell easy at mobile.de - there is one guy from New York offering in that range for prices that are, hmmm - let's say exclusive. I think the company is called merit cars.
Would be interesting what the car was sold for...

10.1k highest bid, which didn't met "Min Bid". I think it will be relisted.
And I totaly agree with Heiko - the more I look at pics and more I recall off memory - it does not worht asking money .
Some one deffinetly can buy it and drive it right away and have fun while it last.............

My observations was:
Overspray without fixing whole rust problems.
Paint is 7 out off 10.
Car is not 100% correct for 68.
Lots of small detales issue , wich is big $$$ issue , making it correct for 68
And Copart is a LAST RESORT to recoupe $$$$

Well I'm glad I didn't bother going to look at that one.The pics of the underside seem to contradict the ones the seller sent me last year.

The seller sent me an Excel spreadsheet of new parts purchased including a big bill for a engine rebuild by a guy in CA. I deleted the spreadsheet after I lost interest in 4 cyl P-cars. Wish I'd kept it now, if only as a reminder of CAVEAT EMPTOR!
