73 RS (?) on eBay $778K!

So, I found this on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110342270859&sspagenam e=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&viewitem=

I searched here and couldn't find a thread on it, sorry if it's a repost.

Anyone know anything about this car? Things I find odd;

- Little to no description
- The story about Brumos making the cars. (i didn't know that?)
- The seller has 0 feedbacks
- Who IS the seller?
- It's got no real data listed..no vin, no nothing.
- Crappy pictures for my money, LOL
- With three days to go, the bidding is nearly 800K!!!

What's going on here??

Saw that too, and had the same reaction as you but as I know diddly-squat about Brumos and racing I have no way to value the car. Certainly the seller and lack of info raises suspicions. This wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be an eBay ID theft run wild.

BTW, the photo looks like it was taken by European Collectables, a very legitimate seller in California yet the car is advertised as in Texas.

Our dear seller is having a hard time
Due to recent issues with some bidders I have decided to ask you to contact me before bidding. If you don't contact me prior to bidding I will be forced to cancell your bid. Thank you for understanding.

I suspect the "bidders" smelled a scam and ran up the price to discourage a sale or bidding by innocent potential victims. If he is a real seller and does own the car, he has a very, very poor selling technique.

Think that one lookeked a little fishy to most of us!

So, if and RS.. obviously a touring based on "options" s/r, and a/c.. compressor is later style upgrade.

I sure there will be an interesting story on this one down the road.

It's a really sketchy way to sell what appears to be a nice, and valuable car. he implies that Brumos did these changes as a "run" on standard "S"'s. is that true??? In any way? or is this a clone privately done?

That car resembles the ex-Peter Gregg 911 which I recall was offered for sale by European Collectibles a year so so ago. I may be wrong.

That does appear to be the very same car sold by european Collectibles spring before last...
Personally viewed it during socal swap meet that day..nice bit 'o kit..
Purported to be a Peter Gregg personal edition even specially tuned and created at Brumos.
EC had the car listed around 130K and with all the RS/RSR upgrades and extras looks as
though they likely got it.
Perhaps this is the buyer simply reassessing his priorities and liqiudating assets, same EC
pics...good luck, BR

Bidding is all the way up to $16K.

Is it just me, or does A/C seem out of place in an ST replica? Not to mention power windows...

Also, when repainted, these cars should have a band of flat black on the inner door metal where it is visible from inside the car. A fairly significant detail on a high dollar car.

High dollar? LOL. it's now at $200. No reserve. As requested, i contacted the seller for information prior to bidding, but he hasn't returned my email.

This guy seems really sketchy...
