First Post - Help with the value of 1980 911 SC!!!!
edit....in for sale section
|
Best guess from what you have posted I'd say it should go for somewhere from 6500 to 9000. If I were buying it the body would be #1, then the condition of the engine, followed by everything else.
Any information on the engine, or why it was parked? If it has something really wrong like broken headstuds or very low compression or high leakdown #'s then I'd go even lower to 5000. But that is just one mans opinion. Post some photos that will help. Rich |
body is actually great......car would probably be best suited for someone that can work on it.....i am used to domestic cars and do my own work but it took me 2 damn hours to just change the plugs in this thing and i still have to do the rear most passenger side one......porsche mechanics must have small hands lol!!!! And I was using the factory tool!!!!
one thing I did just notice is that the airbox is cracked......think I'll just put it on ebay as starting around 5-6k and hope for the best will get photos up this weekend hopefully thanks for the help Rich |
thanks for the e-mails and help everyone
look for a nice bright red SC to show up on ebay soon with a near mint paint job......throw a little work into the engine and seats and it will be a nice car for someone |
My guess is the so called exhaust leak are really broken or lose head studs. Not good.

Head studs more typically break on the 3.0 rather than pulling out. It's a fair-sized effort to fix, and it's one of those "while you're in there" kinda deals. The longer the car is driven with broken head studs, the more expensive the repair. You may be able to isolate the problem by pulling the coil wire and cranking over the engine with someone underneath, listening for compression escaping between the head and cylinder. Please read the OT thread "Horrible news" before doing this. |

IMO the car is worth 5k not running;) |
