1987 Carrera Clubsport M637
I came across this for sale in Perth Australia.
![]() http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/PORSCHE/911%20CARRERA/Western%20Australia/csn7158632.aspx No affiliation to the seller, just posted it here for your interest. I went and inspected it this morning as it is near where I live. It is a stunning honest example of a CS in original condition. It certainly is in excellent condition as you would expect for only 79,000km (40,000 Miles). The rubber exterior (eg front smile, rear spoiler) is in new condition and the interior is mint as well. I was very impressed. The seller knew that I wasn't a serious buyer more an enthusiast and he was happy to show me the car. Nice guy. Interestingly this car was ordered from the factory with 3.4 cams. Priced at the top end of the market ~ $103,000 US ($135,000 AUD) it will be interesting to see how it goes. I really hope it goes to someone who will retain it in it's fabulous original condition and look after it.

How does this price compare to other CS's on the market?
I haven't seen many to compare against.

I've been offered more than that for my US 88. It has 6800 miles and air conditioning, the air kind of defeats the purpose but there were only two of them. The thing about 87 and 88 Club Sports is that they have their own serial number range, North America 1988 is 5xxx at the end and there are 22. So far it's been a great investment, given a few years the numbers fanatics should be all over them, they kind of are now.

Nice Club Sport !
For those in the US, I've been asked to show my '88 Club Sport in the Heritage and Historic Car Display at the Keystone Parade. If you make it to Keystone, stop by and say hi. If I can swing it, I'll have my Euro CS replica (similar to the one above) with me.

Wish I could make it to Keystone Craig!
Attached is a good pic of one of the other Aussie CS's in action. The driver is Mark Clair in Sydney - he drives the crap out of his car - lots of posts on YouTube of his adventures in various rallies/hillclimbs/road races! ![]() Last edited by TomTurtle; 06-18-2009 at 08:33 PM.. |

Note to US observers: don't compare prices in Australia with anywhere else in the world - the numbers are always crazy. It's a RHD-only country and pretty much every Porsche in the country is known to the community.
I agree the price on this car looks high, but an original Oz import Club Sport is a seriously rare beast, single digit material.

Your point is a valid one John but I'll argue 28 Club Sports in the US (with how many million people) makes it a rarer beast than the 50 or so in RHD land. We know of one US CS that sold for $150,00 when the market was in better condition.
Either way....they are all nice cars that will continue to be viewed as desirable as time pases by.
