I don't think the 959 are attractive cars. I understand the allure and value of the original but don't understand why someone would put a kit like this on an otherwise beautiful car.

I agree that as body kits go, this one isn't bad, but the interior is another story.

Let's see....a 1982 911SC with $13K in receipts, not counting the conversion. Also, he runs the stock-looking (except no a/c belt ?) 3.2 on 104 av gas?

I agree with the Noah - Why put this kind of money into an obvious fiberglass "replica"? As if a nice 911 isn't special enough.

I put RS replicas and especially Reaper930's "Blackbird" into a different category - turning the car into a hot rod.

A general comment: As far as the attractiveness of a real 959, I have to respectfully but strongly disagree with Jerry's comment above. I was truly blown away the first time I saw one.

And therein lies the true problem: when is modifying a car OK and when not? It's all a matter of taste. To each his own. Live and let live.

For me a true loser would be someone that feels better by actually telling someone else what a piece of .... he thinks their car is.

Discussions behind the back of said owner are exempt. And I will add that I've never ever seen a 959 replica I thought to look good. Even if all other details are good (which they almost never are), the wheels are always wrong. Most of the time it's like a big hoop skirt on a frail old lady.

i agree. i opened this and was afraid i would be the only one that thought this. the 959 is an amazing car, but the looks lleave a lot to be desired. ill take a lowerd RS or RSR any day over a 959. the front is not too bad, its the rear that really kills it for me. sorry wayne

Yeah, it's a matter of taste. I personally think 959 is one of the nicest cars ever made, both mechanical and visual side.

Though I would never put a bodykit on otherwise good looking 911 without purpose.

Maybe it's too much for orthodox Porsche fans ( ) but I'm planning on building a 993 GT1 replica from scratch (tube frame, 3,2 TT engine etc) someday.

Don't get me wrong, I think the 959 has a good look, and I won't argue with the mechanicals at all, those are impressive as anything that was produced... still top of the line now in a lot of ways.

But, the 911 look is classic. I know why Porsche changed it to make the 959, but unless you actually get the aero benifits of a 959 conversion, whats the point.

Now, if you too say a 930, did crazy things to the drivetrain and did a 959 body mod then mabye... I'm thinking Reaper's Blackbird only with the 959 body mods instead of what he's done. (Reaper - not complaining, I like what you've done. Yours was just an easy example)

But, to each his own. I prefer go over show myself... within reason at least.

Reaper's "935" is an inspiration to us all. Truly showing that "within reason" is subjective.
[BYW, my best wishes for his continued safety as it was mentioned he's back to the sandbox - that is, if he'll accept the good wishes from an ex-squid like me ]

But... if one wanted wanted 959-reproduction performance, one could put a 959 body kit on a 993TT. Why one would do that is certainly beyond me. Would it make a 959? Of course not. Would it make a "959 homage" like Reaper's is to a 935? Well....sort of....
