Price Check - 1977 911 Carrera 3.0

I'm looking for some advice on what to ask for my 911 when I go to sell it in the next couple of months. I have been out of the Porsche world for several years now and have no idea where to start with a price so any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated:

I have owned this 911 for 12 years now. The previous owner (a family friend) purchased the car after it had been hit in the rear at a stop light. The rear bumper, driver's rear fender, and the deck lid had to be replaced. Since this would cost more than the car was worth, the car was salvaged and so it now has a salvage title. The previous owner had a body shop replace the damaged parts and while he was at it, he updated some of the body work. It has newer style front fascia, whale tail, H4 lights, etc. Then he had the whole car repainted.

I daily drove this car for almost 10 years until I got a job that was 50 miles away. I didn't want to put that many miles on the car so I bought a beater to drive to work two years ago. Unfortunately I don't have much time to enjoy the car any more and I only get it out a couple of times a month to drive it around the block. Here's some more info:

1977 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0
Guards Red w/ black interior
17" Cup style wheels
Miles - 172000
Engine was rebuilt down to the rings at ~ 140,000 miles with new rings, timing chain / guides, seals, all 24 head bolts, etc.

What it needs:
  • new heater boxes - the current one has an exhaust leak in the header and will pump fumes in the car when you use the heat
  • headliner installed - I have one just never got around to installing it
  • visors - the current ones are saggy
  • The A/C works but it leaks down and I have to charge it once a year
  • Seats are half vinyl / half cloth and the vinyl on the bottom half of the driver's seat has pulled apart from the cloth so I installed these cheesy seat covers many years ago that are looking faded.

The paint is showing signs of it's age with many rock chips in the front bumper but overall it still looks great.

I hope I didn't overload you with information but I would like to get some opinions on what the car is worth. I know the salvage title kills the value of the car especially to most of you but it would still make someone a fun ride.

Let me know what you think. I will post some pictures below.

Thanks again,

Mike

Good looking car. I too have a '77 Carrera 3.0 and the values are all over the place on them. It seems the Euro market is where these cars command a good price. A lot of the US folks aren't as interested because it is a gray market car and they aren't that familiar with what the C3 is. Some people will tell you it isn't worth any more than an SC, but I think the Carrera 3.0 will start to climb in value as time goes along. There really weren't that many made. I'm sorry to hear the car has a salvage title, that will bring the value down. Keep the car and drive it more often. I think the salvage title hurts it more than anything, so start putting more miles on it.
