Opinions please on this car
http://www.autotraderclassics.com/find/vehicle/vehicleDetail.xhtml?adId=152798&conversationId=104 270
OK so I ave been looking for a 77S to replace the lovely but a little pedestrian 912. I really like the early impact bumper narrower body style. I saw this car on ATC and though I like it I think the price is too high First order would be a PPI and leakdown to check if appropriate upgrades have been done. on the + I dont think rear quarters opened on a 77 so someone went to some trouble there. Also the lights look like H1's I don't think the current owner did this. I don't like that the windshield is missing the chrome trim If it checks out I was think ing 14K what do you guys think ?

Way high for a mid-year.
You could pick up a real nice Carrera for the same price or for less http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=484481 or a 964 http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1291164366.html

While I would normally say that is crazy money it does have a rebuilt engine with only 30K miles on it. If he has the receipts for the rebuild, can show that it has the Carrera tensioners, the paint job is a quality job, i.e. glass out, and that AC really works, and maybe the suspension has been refreshed, then I don't think the car is over priced. You would be looking at a basically "new" 77.

hello there
a couple of things that catch my attention on a car that was restored. when you look at the engine pic. you will notice that the sunroof drains have a rust trail coming from them. not a good sign right after a repaint. it could be nothing but i have owned several mid year cars and in my experience that is a sign of trouble. the drains will start rust in the inner body and it will make its way from the inside out to the bottom edge of the rear window. the front windshield is missing the chrome trim or it is black but doesn't match the rest of the trim these things are all small but they add up quick the car is very nice looking but with limited pics its hard to see whats going on with it. this car is priced pretty high even with the new motor done. im hoping these mid year cars dont start going up like this as i play with these because thay are affordable to buy. im thinking about picking up a mint green 77s with a 3.0 ROW motor 8000.00 http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1317666714.html cheers ed
