early S value
I have an opportunity to buy 2.2 S from 1970. Car is not matching numbers although the engine is 2.2S from 1970 and with almost no history. Car is roadworthy and has been driving daily. Has non original RS flares, 915 gearbox and Fuchs replicas.
The structure and paintwork are decent. No Recaros. Interior used but tidy. What would be the right price in you opinion? Thanks

rust Rust RUST!!! It can make the difference between a $5000 and $50,000 car. Structural rust is the primary determinator of value on early S cars, and this must be inspected by someone who really knows where to look. Next determinator of value is originality, especially on S cars.
Assuming there is no rust at all, for a car as you've described I would put a value between $20-30,000 for a targa...add another 30% for a coupe. If it's missing the mfi injection system, deduct $5000. Posting some pictures would help us narrow it down a bit. Last edited by jkarolyi; 10-21-2009 at 11:39 AM.. |
