I need to express
I am about to travel to middle America to look at a car. I'm not certain this is a good thing as I don't need another hobby car.
Buuuut......... I have a big weakness, its called '69 and '70 Boss 302's. I just can't get them out of my head.........it is an illness of which I am certain. I have had two but neither was drivable as we all know restoration costs can do to a savings account. So better judgment prevailed and they were sold some years ago. Something about the Ford solid lifter engines make me weak in the knees. If purchased I will be selling one of my mid 80's 911 coupes. With my luck I will pay too much for the Boss and get too little for the 911. Thats usually how that works. Any and all comments welcome. Perhaps someone can talk me out of this foolish notion. "But I really want one" |

How much? Got a pic? Options? Mileage? Color?
These cars were rust buckets, any original panels left on it? Fairly gutless, marginal handling. No torque. A handsome car, nevertheless. |

You are going to get rid of a 911 for a Ford?! You are a sick man. Haha
Do what makes you happy man, its your money. I do think you are insane for thinking about it though. |

creaturecat, you are spot on with your comments. You may have helped to get my mind right. By the by supposed to be all original panels with no rust (I know where to look). Non match block. Very common with these cars. I guess I don't get the prices. A decent B2 is bringing 50K and really, they are just a Mustang Sportsroof. I did get another lead on one here in California.
Murphyjp, my computer crashed last month and I lost all my pix on the 911. The tiny avatar is the only one I have now. This entire thought may be foolish. My neighbor mentioned that even if a B2 could travel at 140mph like my 911 would you want to be in the thing at that speed. I think he's right.

Mustang
Hey to each his own --
I for example own a mid year 911 which shares a garage with a mildly customized(engine, brakes, steering, etc) 72 GMC -stepside pick up. I like em both -- the Mustang like almost all Muscle cars of that era was more about personality than real performance - but personality can be fun -- I had several older Challengers, Vettes and even a Miata. Also the old muscle cars in general could be built up pretty easily. so if you like it --get it - Good Luck F

pirahna, you are correct about the crazy. I love cars, its my dope. I searched for almost two years to find that car. The upside is I do have another space for the Boss but will be required to park my family vehicle outside, oh' well.
I am never satisfied with what I have, I always think there is something I'm missing. Oddly I realize it is not true........yet I continue to fool myself. At sixty I still have not cured my mind............maybe a horse ranch, ya...........a ranch..........maybe that would cure me If someone buys the 911 they will have a dandy car.......and I will regret selling it. |
