Low miles 993 Value help here

Guys, I was thinking of selling my 1997 993 Cabrio in order to invest in an earlier 70's Carrera. No real hurry but I have had interest from dealers in the high 30's (wholesale) and the asking prices seem to be all over depending on where you look. What makes mine a bit harder to gauge on price is that I have only 5,800 original miles on it. It's nothing special, not a turbo or widebody etc. but it does have factory 18 twist wheels and a Litronic headlight dealer upgrade and motorsound package with NLA Porsche crest floor mats and quality color matched bra. Red/black 6 speed (hard to find as most are tiptronic) and the car smells and looks showroom as you might expect at 5,800 miles. I'm thinking of asking 47K ? Am I off here or just hang onto it ? I paid 63K 7 years ago with 1,200 miles on it from the original owner.

Man, I wish I had some cash to offer as part of a trade with my car - I've got what you're looking for, and I'm selling to get into a cab, albeit an 84-89, but would definitely take a 993 if it were within budget. However yours isn't anywhere near my budget!

IMO, that's a damn nice car and with mileage like that, it should be worth more than the 30s you're being offered. I think 47 sounds about right, but I don't really know the 993 market at all. In 20 years, that car is going to be worth a small fortune, esp. if you keep the miles low.

I could agree with you but I could pass up an aweful lot of other fun 911's waiting 20 years ! Hard to try and guess what any car market will do. Thanks for reply though.

I believe the economy is still taking a toll on Porsche prices. Did you check with places like RPM, Truspeed and Sloan? In the Bay Area, you can also try Cars Dawydiak. There is also a gentleman in Florida that was buying low miles Porsches. If you are interested, PM me and I'll look up his info.

Has the car been driven regularly over the last 13 years? If it has sat for years on end the seals tend to dry up. If that is the case it should show up in a good PPI. The cars that are driven occasionally seam to be in better health with low miles like that.

I would guess somewhere in the $40k's would be reasonably attainable if there is no accident history, all maintenance records are present and it passes a PPI without any major issues.

Where is it located? Posting on the 993 section of rennlist will get you more response as it is much more active on the 993's than here. Post pictures here for us to drool over.

You should contact sloancars.com he seems to find or sell really low mileage porsches.

Your car must be practically brand new, it fits his type of cars that he sells.

You can also Ebay it, you should get top dollar for that low mielage car....

Sounds like a gorgeous 993. Are the turbo twists the hollow spoke" technology wheels"? If so that is a rare option especially on a narrow body car. Tim Holt or Sloan should be able to tell you what your car is worth in a private sale and what they would offer for it.

Those guys are only going to give you wholesale value, list it here, and on Rennlist and wait for the right buyer. The only thing is if it sat for a long time it will leak, GLWS. Sounds like a sweet one.

don't let a dealer get ahold of your car, please. Sloan, Holt, Truspeed, etc, all make a living off of buying cars like yours, at wholesale and charging BIG$$$ for them.

Post up on Rennlist, details about the car-all the option codes, as much condition/maintenence/exsercise history as you have. Rennlist is extremely active, and low mileage member cars do show up. If money, or urgency of sale isn't a driving force here, take your time, get an honest amount for the car, and sell it yourself.

I have been searching a handful of on-line classifieds three times a day or more, for over two months. Ideally, I want a 96-98 C4S, a driver, not a queen, for my budget, I'm looking at cars with 80k miles. There are absolutely no shortage of very expensive low -mid mileage cars at the above referenced dealer's.

There have been a handful of beautiful cars that Rennlist members have sold to another member, at very reaonable prices-I just didn't get there fast enough.

Anyway, somebody out there is looking for exactly what you have. You'll get your price, or damn close to it. You have cared for the car, see that it finds a new owner who will continue that care.
