Price check 1985 911 coupe 128k miles
this just turned up at a local auto dealer as a trade in they are pricing it at $10.5k they state that the previous owner traded it because of an engine knock car starts and runs but get noisy after it warms up. what does a 3.2 engine rebuild cost theses days? interior shows normal wear paint is dull appears to have had a sub standard repaint years ago what is a car in this condition worth? how much is a 1985 911 coupe worth in non running condition? what is it worth as a roller? Is $10.5 out of line? what would be a fair price to pay for this ? thank you

In my humble opinion you'd be better off to spend the extra $5k-$6k up front and buy a good running driver.

Have you listened to the engine? I haven't heard of many 3.2 engines with bottom end wear. Most problems at that mileage are more in the neighborhood of oil leaks and oil consumption due to valve guide wear. If it is a bottom end problem, like the others have said tack on an additional $5K-$8K depending on how much work you can do yourself.
