1977 930 turbo value

I have the opportunity to buy a 1977 930 turbo, no sunroof, unmodified, no signs or being wrecked, no rust California car. Lady owned for many years. It has been a daily driver most of its life and kept outside. Maintenance besides oil changes has just been when something is broken, that is when it is fixed. Has 90K on speedo, but recently stopped working. Dirty interior, blue leather, Missing AC compressor, wheel have no scratches, tires old, steering wheel wobbles, interior is ruff, but may clean up nicely.

It just had a new quality paint job. The starter stopped working while in the paint shop, so now it is at the repair shop, waiting for a new starter. I have not driven it yet. the current owner says it drives and shifts well. However he said he does not feel the turbo kicking

The lady sold it about a year ago to the new owner. He wants $11-12K for it. The new paint job probably would cost 1/2 of that. Seems like a good deal. what do you think ??

I would like to make it a nice clean driver. I know it needs allot work and money. I will get a PPI done on it, to make sure the engine is ok.

Thanks Danny.

Buy It!
I would.............

If you don't buy it, hook me up...

That's a deal at that price, and the cosmetics look pretty good - half the battle won!

I would buy it and prep it for long term storage - that car will be worth much more in a few years. Save up coin for a proper mechanical rebuild - it will be money well spent.

Early Turbos are not the best drivers, but they are very significant 911's. My cousin once owned a ROW '85 (in the late 80's when they were sought after), man was that thing a beast when on boost. I prefer to drive my "mild" '82 SC, but it was an experience I'll never forget....

If the quality of the repaint was good and the mechanicals are decent, the car is a good buy at $11-$12k.

very nice paint, the poor pictures don't show that it was covered with dust and still looks shiny,

We agreed on $11.5k for the car :) Thanks for the input guys.

I do not mean to make it a daily driver, just a driver quality refurbishing.

You got that car at about half price...

Now it is time for the slippery slope. Do you keep her relatively stock, or mod her? I would keep her stock as that car is going up in value. The 16s on the car are good for the road, but if you wanted to restore her, you'd need to find the proper 15s.

That silver sure looks beautiful! And I usually don't like silver cars.

No moding, all stock, I don't have the size of the tires. They appeared to be stock by other pictures I have seen of these. I will have too check. You must have a good eye for detail. What do think of the blue interior?

dhg1337 05-03-2010 06:27 PM

I Did a search, the 1977 wheel size was up graded to 16, The 1976 had 15 inch.

I am getting more excited about the car. I took another look at the car today. Turns out to be not as neglected as I first thought. The car has been in a body shop for 2 months and looks like a mess due to all the dust, dry/wet sanding and polishing. Once it is out of the repair shop it is going back to the body shop. Once there the final detailing, polishing, and cleaning will be done. It should look very nice. The blue interior is looking better to me.
