Value of a mint '88 cab w/ 55k miles

Greetings everyone,

I inherited my dad's 1988 911 cabriolet. It is guards red on pristine black interior and a new black top ($10k top).

The car is Canadian (and is located in Canada) and has 89k KM or 55~K miles. Has always been garage kept and cared for by a local independent Porsche shop. Never driven in rain or snow.

The car is as close to flawless as you can imagine for its vintage, and still shifts the way it did when it was new, I'm sure.

While it's hard to put numbers to things that are so special, I'm personally not ready for a 911.

Any help or direction with what to do with this car would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Similar currently listed in the for sale section for $21,500. No affiliation, here's the link:

Looks like a pretty nice car, US car probably has a broader market appeal than a Canadian version, but others may have a different opinion.

I think you will find asking prices and values to vary based on lots of factors. There is also a discrepancy between asking and selling. I would say your asking price will really depend on your urgency to sell versus getting maximum potential dollars (and tolerance to respond to e-mail/phone/in-person sales efforts). Based on your description, I would say $21.5 is the very low end and anything over $25 would be high. It's a lot easier to lower the price, than raise it.

I imagine the canadian market for these cars is a little tighter than say, southern california $22-26K sounds like a fair asking price.. I imagine final sale price would be closer to $20-22K.

Remember, no matter how "flawless" its a 22 year old car. Anything made of rubber is suspect - weather stripping, suspension bushings, brake lines, fuel lines etc. I would "hope" it would be relatively low mileage as my stereotype for canada is long cold winters and short cold summers.. so convertible weather is at a premium.

Zoiks!! Paid US$14K for my '85 Carrera coupe and have a buddy who paid not much more than that for his '88. Carrera prices are certainly all over the map...

It all depends on the condition, how badly you want it and badly he wants to sell it!
