Please post pics of the car. Do you have the history up until it was parked. And why was it parked ?

Don't have pics. My friend inspected the car Sunday. He is very knowledgeable about 911's. I would describe it as a very well preserved 74 911. Parked in a garage for ten years.
The family is selling the car for their father's estate. The car was running before it was parked. I know there are so many variables involved considering the car is not running. I was just curious if anyone had a idea of what it would be worth. It seems hard to place a value on a non running car. I am aware of the value of a operating 74 911. Just trying to help a friend who is considering the purchase. Thanks..........

'74S is the best of the narrow midyears. Better rear end ratio, no crappy airpumps and thermal reactors. Narrow rear bumper pads.. Potential lighter as well depending on options (is it a sunroof coupe?). I *thought* S's came with Fuchs, although the cookies are period correct, as no doubt the BROWN color is
![]() The real problem is that there aren't many (any?) comparables out there. Most midyears are used up.. or have converted engines. Very few are still original condition. I would check the underside for rust (the '74s weren't galvanized yet) in the suspension pan and battery box area. I have seen SOME midyears "ask" a price in the upper teens to low 20s, but don't know if those sold at those prices. I would think if solid and engine is good (i'm thinking 35+ year old rubber fuel lines, vacumn lines etc should be replaced).. is a $10-15K car * did a '74 have a 5 digit or 6 digit odometer? could it be 123K miles? I'd also wonder why it was parked. Our 74S blew airboxes constantly when new (before the pop-of valve was "created") ... and blew a motor at 30K miles (admittedly mostly track miles).

I can't tell you what it's worth, but your buddy should plan on spending close to a $1000 getting the fuel distributor serviced. It and all the hard lines are going to be a mess and will be an expense above and beyond the gas tank. A few years back we got a similar car running for a customer and it was $2500 parts and labor just on the fuel system. He should expect at least that much in addition to anything else the engine might need if it's got pulled studs or leaking valve guides or any of the other 2.7l wooleybuggers...

Actual Sale Datapoint
I know of a 1974 911S which sold in the last two years for about $14-15K. It was a original owner car, garaged since new, all records, window sticker, tools, etc., Fuchs wheels, 60K original miles, freshly rebuilt motor with some oil leaks, sierra beige with black interior, no sunroof. Interior was perfect. Engine cover and front valance repainted, rest of paint original. As nice as it was, it still needed work - body had lot's of shallow dings/dents (PDR could fix), factory A/C did not blow cold, rather old tires, and more. Ran well.

There are three sisters involved in the sale. Originally they were asking 6k and my buddy offered to pay the asking price. The offer was sent to committee. They refused and have decided to put it up for bid. I thought that was flat out wrong. I guess when you have three people involved things get complicated. I will keep you guys posted. I feel 6k for a non running car is more than fair. 6K is with no PPI. It could have broken head studs, bad syncros in the tranny, fuel dist. issues, etc, etc.
