Found 1956 Porsche Speedster
I found a barn project. Any ideas on the value of a 56 356 Speedster? All the pieces taken off, body has some damage, but rust is not a problem. The engine, trans, etc is all there. What is it worth? In the state it is in, and if it was completed?

Two ways to look at this:
Option A - Look at the value of the finished car and subtract the costs to get it there. A concours condition speedster can bring between $125-$175k last I checked Option B - Add up the sum of the parts As a general rule, Option B yields a larger positive number, although a numbers matching early 356 speedster might be the best exception to the rule. Almost impossible to provide a further opinion without more information and photos.

Just figure that based on what you described, the car is going to need $50-75K to make it right. It might be a good car to buy and sell to a restoration specialist. Or if you are looking for a long term project that is truly worth owning and having in your "permanent" collection it's a great car if you can afford the cost of ownership.

Based upon the scant information offered, to reach the highest value the car would IMO need close to a $100,000 dollar restoration. This was what I was quoted to rebuild a sad speedster by one of the top shops in the East.
You can buy a very nice speedster for $125,000 to $150,000.
