As a data point I just paid 17.5k for a nice mid 80's Carrera coupe with G15 trans and 60k miles. Am very happy with the deal and didn't see anything decent for less after extensive looking.

A G15? No such thing. Either it's an 84-86 with 915 or 87-89 with G50.

Another data point: Sunday, I put a nice stock '72 T up for sale and it basically sold in 5 hours at the asking price. (only a little less than my hotrod '72T sold for in June).

The market seems as strong as ever for the right cars.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that the good cars that need nothing are not entirely different in pricing. They have come down to decent levels however from bubble levels.

Cars that need restoration, project cars, cars with unspecified lineage are still being just about given away from what I see. And this includes a lot of different models. Beautiful SCs that can't fetch 13 grand, rollers that struggle to get 2,500, track cars with almost no value it would seem. People seem to pay more for long hoods right now however.

Like I said, the spending is going to be uneven for a long while. We are entering a time of permanently higher unemployment for blue collar workers, but they are not always the type that buy Porsches. It seems like Corvette prices have come down more overall.

The american economy has changed permanently in some aspects, however a lot of well heeled types have pulled their money out of stocks and when you have a pile of loot sitting in the bank it only takes an irrational urge to put somebody into the seat of a 911 on any given sunday.
